New detached dwelling house located on a very challenging steeply sloping site at Gweebarra, Co. Donegal. The dwelling house comprises a floor area of in or around 230m². Providing open plan living accommodation and 4 no. bedrooms. The challenge presented by the site was that there were stunning views towards the north and the side of a mountain to the south. To overcome this problem we limited the amount of glass to the north but without compromising on the views and at the same time used roof lights towards the south to direct shafts of sunlight into the heart of the house. Construction comprises timber frame construction with high levels of insulation and triple glazing throughout. Airtight technology was used to limit energy loss through air leakage in conjunction with Heat Recovery Ventilation system.
